Md. House Panel Spikes Reagan Day Proposal

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Reagan Day in Maryland will have to wait for another year.

State House lawmakers have voted down a plan to honor the late President Ronald Reagan during the 100th year since his birth by starting an annual recognition of the Republican icon. A Maryland House committee plans to deliver the bad news Thursday morning to the Gipper's fans.

The proposal would have had Marylanders honor Reagan on his Feb. 6 birthday, but was a longshot from the start in the Democrat-run General Assembly.
