Frederick County Hearing Report On Privatizing Services

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The Frederick County Commissioners are hearing a presentation on how public-private partnerships could cut the cost of government.

Consultant PPP Associates of Sandy Springs, Ga., was scheduled to present its report to the all-Republican board Thursday afternoon.

President Blaine Young says board members commissioned the $25,000 study because they aim to deliver on campaign promises to seek smaller government and lower taxes.

Young says public-private partnerships could provide the same level of service to citizens at a savings to taxpayers of 10 percent or more.
