COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WJZ) -- The Maryland Men's Lacrosse team's undefeated season is over after they fell to the University of Virginia in the finals, 17 to 16.
The Terps played in the tournament as the no. 3 seed.
"I think it's unacceptable they got ranked third going into the postseason. I thought that was ridiculous for being the only undefeated team," said Hayden Binnix, Terps fan.
"For something as big as the championship game, I think it's exciting," one fan told WJZ.
It was tense over at Looney's Pub on Monday afternoon.
"Virginia is putting on a run. Maryland is battling back. It's a good lacrosse game so I'm excited," a Terp Fan said.
Emotions were high for the Terrapins. A heartbreaking way to end the season.
"Tough loss. We came back in the third. We had a chance in the end but Virginia was just too tough today," said Danny Daneker, Terps fan.
If they had won Monday, it would have been the first undefeated season since 1973.
UVA sent the terps home in the 2019 quarterfinals.
