Man Sentenced For Impersonating ICE Officer
GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- Federal prosecutors say a Germantown man has been sentenced for impersonating an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer as part of a fraud scheme.
Robert Fred Mejia, 29, was also ordered to pay $595,500 in restitution.
According to his plea agreement, Mejia and a conspirator charged more than 50 people $5,000 or more for immigration services they did not provide. As part of the scheme, Mejia would meet with people seeking immigration assistance and dress as an ICE employee.
