Man Charged With Setting Fire At Girlfriend's Home
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- State fire officials have charged a Hagerstown man with arson after they say he set a fire in his girlfriend's home after an argument.
Jeffrey Myerly, 52, was arrested Monday. He is charged with arson, malicious burning and malicious destruction of property.
The State Fire Marshal's office says the fire broke out Saturday about 9 p.m. on Antietam Drive. Fire officials say Myerly went into the home, damaged property, placed combustible materials on a stove top and turned on the burner.
The girlfriend came home, saw heavy smoke inside and call 911.
Thirty-one firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control.
The fire caused $5,000 damaged to the two-story duplex.
