Man Charged With Murder Stabs Fellow Inmate
ELKTON, Md. (AP) -- The Cecil County Sheriff's Office says an inmate at the detention center charged with drowning a woman in a bathtub has stabbed another inmate.
Twenty-five-year-old Jeffery Cordell of Middletown, Del., has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and other offenses in Saturday's stabbing.
1st Sgt. Michael Holmes of the sheriff's office says Cordell attacked the other inmate about 9 a.m. The other inmate, who sustained wounds to his hand, head and legs, was treated at a hospital and returned to the detention center.
The motive for the stabbing has not been determined.
Cordell is awaiting trial on a murder charge in the drowning death of 27-year-old Erica Green in May.
