Major Somerset Employer To Shut Facility
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- State labor officials say one of the largest employers in Somerset County plans to lay off more than 100 workers when it closes a facility early next year.
LFC Agricultural Services Inc. has informed the state that it plans to shut down its facility in Westover in February, and 103 people will lose their jobs.
The state says only a few firms in the lower Eastern Shore county employ more people. Somerset's unemployment rate has averaged more than 10 percent this year, well above Maryland's rate.
