"Love Me Some BUCK Night" at Camden Yards

I want to thank listener "Cory" for doing what I didn't have the sack to do. Cory, is a regular listener who phoned in last week to share with us how off the charts exciting it's been watching "BUCKball" in full bloom. He threw a challenge out to all O's fans..."lets let the Orioles know that we appreciate what they're doing".
Cory wants to see Camden Yards filled with fans for the final weekend of baseball for the 2010 season. I'm totally on board!
For a few weeks I've been thinking the same thing. I didn't want to go on air and seem like a team rep pumping the fans to attend a game(s) or spend hard-earned dollars buying into something they didn't fully want to support. I know many O's fans are happy with the teams new found attention to detail and passionate play...but I also know many are being very cautious about showing total support.
It's a touchy thing.
I put the idea on the shelf..and then "Cory" came along. I thank him for saying what I second guessed myself into not saying.
I've been throwing it out on the show that this Friday night (Oct 1) Orioles fans should band together and do something special. Lets sell out the best ballpark in baseball. Lets have a good time hanging out . Lets enjoy a final Friday night of O's baseball together. Lets congregate and have fun. I'm pushing for a sell-out because I think it would be a fitting way to say thanks to Buck Showalter for taking on the task of managing the Orioles back to respectability. He has been a breath of fresh air in so many ways and I for one believe he has put a charge into the ranks that will carry some much-needed momentum into the offseason.
I'll be there Friday night.
I'm buying a ticket and plan on drinking a few beers, downing a few Esskays and hanging out with O's fans for a good time. I'll cheer and boo and maybe even heckle a player or two. The O's will play Detroit. No Red Sox. No Yankees. No pennant to chase. No Jon Miller. No Davey Johnson. No Cal Ripken, Eddie Murray, Frank Robinson or Brooks Robinson. No "Wild Bill". No John Lowenstein. No Earl Weaver. No Jim Palmer (unless he's doing TV).
Friday, October 1st is for us...O's fans...to let the organization know that Andy is cool...the young arms are fun to watch...the future is looking brighter than at any point in nearly fourteen years...and I "Love Me Some BUCK" . Come on down to Camden Yards...snag a ticket...relax and enjoy some baseball. Let the young O's know you respect the way they've finished and let Buck Showalter know you're behind him.
The time is now for all the bashing and hate to stop and for the Orioles to take a few giant leaps towards making next season one to remember...lets send them off into the offseason with no doubts as to how much we all still care.
I hope to see you at The Yard on Friday night. I'll probably be out in left or right field somewhere - no media credential needed. "Love Me Some BUCK Night" is on...
