Like it or not Strasburg not in the All Star Game is Right Move

Stephen Strasburg burst on to the scene a few weeks ago with his electrifying debut.  Ever since then Strasburg has been better than good, the only reason he is 2-2 is lack of run support (sound familiar).  Strasburg has an ERA of 2.45, with 53 strikeouts and only 10 walks.  There is no doubt about the buzz that Strasburg brings when he does pitch, The Nats sold out his debut and even the lowly Indians were able to sell over 40,000.  So right now im not really making a strong argument for keeping him out.  Until

that is you take a look at all the National League pitchers. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_star/y2010/roster_league.jsp

Now after looking at those pitchers which one will you take off to make room for Strasburg.  Josh Johnson maybe, well he's only 8-3 with a 1.82 ERA and 115 strikeouts.  I know some of you see Arthur Rhodes and think how the hell did he make the team, at the age of 40 Rhodes has posted an ERA of 1.06 in 34 innings of work.  Then some of you will look at the lone Pittsburgh Pirate and assume that he is only on the team because every team needs to be represented.  Well do yourself a favor and look up Evan Meek's stats, better yet ill give them to you, in 47 innings he has allowed 5 earned runs, that's an ERA below 1.  Look I could go through every single player and list their stats and show you why each and every one of them will be playing in Anaheim next week but I don't have enough room.  Stephen Strasburg has shown he has the potential to be an elite pitcher for a very long time so missing one all-star game that in my opinion he doesn't deserve to be in anyway is not the end of the world.  To take out any of those guys who have a had a full body of work for a rookie with just 6 starts under his belt would be the wrong move.  In fact there are 4 or 5 guys who deserve a spot over Strasburg.  In no particular order, Matt Cain, Heath Bell (Who is on the Final Vote), Mat Latos and Mike Pelfrey just to name a few.  Strasburg is very good but let's be honest he is not on these guys level....yet.
