Ice & Downpours Make For Treacherous Road Conditions Tuesday

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Over the past 24 hours, Marylanders have seen the gamut of weather: snow, freezing rain and sleet, rain and then sunshine.

Rick Ritter has more on the mess around Maryland.

It started with ice Tuesday morning. The lingering impact from Monday's storm left sidewalks frozen in Fells Point and cars engulfed in frost.

"It's been rough the past couple of days," said Bob Gorman.

Throughout Hampden, it was a similar story.

"I don't like the snow, period," said Charles Ray.

But hours into Tuesday, heavy rain triggered a flood warning. Baltimore County watched storm water drains, streams and creeks overflow.

Anne Arundel County took in a downpour, with many trading in shovels for umbrellas.

"Yes, I've had enough of winter," said one Fells Point resident.

Weather that left the streets of downtown Bel Air empty before the sun finally came out.

It was a messy few days in what's been a brutal month.

"It seems like every 10 years, we get a rough winter," said Gorman.

There's a possibility that things will refreeze Tuesday night.

Baltimore City's Department of Transportation says they've used more than 5,000 tons of salt over the last 48 hours.
