I Heart Tim Tebow

Last night the television show that is The National Football League was on full display. Obviously as I am an NFL guy, Mark Zinno and I could not be further apart in our opinions of this event. It's not a secret that he absolutely hates the fact that the NFL is creating an event out of this when in his words "it's completely pointless". I, on the other hand, ate it all up last night and enjoyed every second of it. The Tim Tebow pick alone was worth pay per view money. The hysterics of ESPN's team believing the Ravens actually selected him not knowing they had traded the pick, to Tim putting on his Broncos "Draft Day Hat". The interview with Tebow afterwards delivered also, as he said all of the right things. The Steve Young-Tom Jackson tension was priceless, as was Berman's uncomfortable pauses. The night was perfect and with the ratings showing it's success, it was far from being "pointless". The NFL again showed why it stands alone at the top of the sports mountain, going up against NBA and NHL playoff games and completely blowing them out of the water. So that's right, the names of college kids being read off of a card is more interesting to America than the Championship hopes of other leagues. Maybe what upsets Mark is that he is an MLB guy and for years the NFL's viewership has went up and MLB's has went down. That's why I cannot wait till the NFL goes head to head with Game 4 of the World Series. The NFL has always taken it's Sunday Night Game off of the air out of respect for Major League Baseball, but I ask what's the point? If the league knows it's game would still perform well in that slot, then go for it. And go for it they did, as they have the Steelers in New Orleans putting the last 2 Super Bowl Champions against each other. Pretty interesting stuff, and that's why the NFL will eat their lunch again.
