Happy Birthday To Us!
In case you missed it, this week marks the second birthday of 105.7 The Fan.
I remember distinctly the feeling that I had when Dave Labrozzi called me to offer the gig. It was a deep secret, and I was sworn to silence. Heck, I assumed I'd be doing a show on AM1300. Imagine my surprise when I found it was an FM station. Everything about it was top-drawer, the signal strength, the strong leadership from Labrozzi and GM Bob Phillips, the support from CBS Radio...everything.
We were charged with giving you the fans a strong, accountable sportstalk station . We were given everything we needed...no excuses on this venture....and you responded. Boy, did you respond. The Fan has been a success from the very outset, and we have you to thank.
When I joined this outfit two years ago, I had been doing radio in Baltimore in one form or another since 1993, but always longed for a daily slot where I could do the show I wanted to do. Not reciting long lists of statistics, or breaking down the mechanics of the O's backup catcher , but rather a fast paced two hours with lots of information, but also a healthy dose of humor and friendly conversation. I like to think I succeeded in that. I'm having fun every single day, and it feels wonderful to be able to say that.
Thank you so much, Baltimore......as we at The Fan move into the future, please know that we do it for you.
As I say every day at the end of the show, I love you madly!
