Guard Settles Retaliation Lawsuit With Baltimore Officers

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Two Baltimore police officers have settled a lawsuit accusing them of bringing criminal charges against a private security guard in retaliation for filing a complaint about them.

An attorney for the security guard, Albert Lemon, confirmed a settlement was reached but declined to elaborate.

Online court records show the case was settled Jan. 9, the same day Lemon's lawsuit was going to trial.

Lemon's lawsuit accuses the officers of pointing guns at him and arresting him after responding to his call about a man he had detained for possible drug activity in August 2012. A supervisor later ordered Lemon released, and Lemon filed a complaint with internal affairs.

A month later, one of the officers filed theft and assault charges against Lemon. The Daily Record reports that Lemon was cleared of all charges.
