Glenn Younes: Tiger Still Has Claws

Sunday in Dublin Ohio was Tiger time, it had been four times prior and would prove to be again.

You'll hear accolades and amazement about the birdie chip-in on 16 that gave Tiger Woods the lead & his eventual 73rd career PGA TOUR victory. The victory which tied him with tournament host Jack Nicklaus was of the come from behind variety. An amazing feat as we later found out that Woods had a fever of 102 Friday and Saturday, only to break it the night prior to his final round. Healthy is what Tiger looked like, Tiger is who Tiger played like. I'm not sure if he's back or not because a win at Bay Hill followed by his miss hits at the Masters has me cautiously optimistic. But optimistic I remain and after the Memorial...

And why not? Tiger at age 36 has as many wins (73) as Jack finished with. That's dominance, placing the pair second all time, 9 PGA TOUR wins behind Sam Snead's 82. The way Tiger hit the ball nearly perfect, putted and kept coming was the closer we were used to. He birdied 3 of the final 4 holes to post a 5 under 67 and walk away with a two stroke lead. It's excitement at its purest form. A golf fan I am but even to the non-fan or nonbeliever Tiger moves the meter and for that Golf is better.
