Former Montana State Student From Md. Pleads Guilty In Stolen Guns Case

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) -- A former Montana State University student has pleaded guilty to stealing guns from a Bozeman sporting goods store after a store employee spotted a flyer at MSU listing two of the guns for sale and called police.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports Connor Hayden Kraegel of Poolsville, Md., pleaded guilty to theft from a federal firearms licensee on Jan. 6 before U.S. Magistrate Jeremiah Lynch in Missoula.

Federal prosecutors say Kraegel broke into Bob Ward and Sons on Feb. 8, 2010, taking 11 firearms. Court records say nine were recovered.

Bozeman police detective Cory Klumb says the tip from the Bob Ward's employee led police to conduct an undercover buy and arrest Kraegel, who is 21.

A plea agreement calls for five years of probation and restitution when Kraegel is sentenced on April 8.
