Firefighters To Hand Out Smoke Alarms Saturday
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- City firefighters will be doing a smoke alarm sweep Saturday morning throughout various communities.
The sweep comes after a 53-year-old woman was killed in a fire in the 5200 Frankfurt Avenue on the morning of Sept. 18.
The fire is being investigated as an arson.
Assistant Fire Chief Teresa Everett along with a number of city firefighters will being talking to residents about the importance of fire safety.
If residents request it, the firefighters will also install 10-year lithium tamper-resistant battery smoke alarms.
The woman's death was the 13th fire fatality this year in Baltimore.
