Firefighters Rescue Kitten From Car's Engine
BELTSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County firefighters say they rescued a three-week-old kitten from a car's engine compartment.
Firefighters got a call about 1:30 p.m. Monday from a motorist in Beltsville who heard a cat meowing as he drove on Route 1. Firefighters arrived and searched the engine compartment; they could hear, but not see, the kitten.
After banging on engine parts, the kitten appeared from its hiding place.
The kitten, named Columbo because Monday was Columbus Day, went back to the firehouse and will be taken home by one of the firefighters.
