Firefighter Suffers Minor Injury In Rural Md. House Fire
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A Frederick County firefighter is recovering from minor injuries sustained in a fire that caused extensive damage to a 200-year-old home in the rural community of Johnsville.
The Frederick News-Post reports that the home's residents escaped safely from the blaze. It was reported at about 2 a.m. Sunday.
Officials estimate the damage at $750,000.
Chip Jewell of the Libertytown Volunteer Fire Department says firefighters arrived to find the roof on fire. He says they spent about an hour controlling the flames and also worked to protect nearby buildings.
The Frederick County fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
There were no details about how the firefighter was injured.
