Feds Give Cumberland Funds To Hire 8 Firefighters
CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- The city of Cumberland is getting a federal grant to restore eight firefighter jobs it cut two years ago.
Maryland's two U.S. senators, Democrats Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin, announced the grant of more than $806,000 on Tuesday.
The grant will cover wages and benefits for two years. The city must pay for a third year under terms of the grant from the Department of Homeland Security.
