WASHINGTON (AP) -- A preliminary hearing has been postponed for a District of Columbia police officer charged with running a prostitution ring involving teenage girls.
Officer Linwood Barnhill Jr. was scheduled for a hearing Friday in D.C. Superior Court, but it was postponed until next Wednesday. He was ordered detained at his first appearance.
Barnhill was arrested Wednesday, one week after police found a missing 16-year-old girl in his apartment. The girl told police Barnhill had offered to arrange paid sex acts for her with other men, and that she met other women at the apartment who said they worked as prostitutes for him.
Another officer, Marc Washington, was arrested last week on child pornography charges. His body was pulled Tuesday from the Washington Channel, and he later died.
Police haven't said how.
