Coast Guard Logistics Center Marks Command Change

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The U.S. Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center is marking a change in command.

A ceremony will be held at the parade field at the Coast Guard Yard in Baltimore Thursday morning as Capt. Michael J. Haycock takes over from Kenneth R. Burgess Jr., the director of the center since April.

Burgess will serve as the center's executive director, a position he held from 2009 until April. Haycock is the former commanding officer of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Sherman, a 378-foot high-endurance cutter homeported in Alameda, Calif.

The center provides maintenance, engineering, supply, logistics, and information services for all Coast Guard surface forces, including 246 cutters and 2,300 boats. Haycock will be responsible for a workforce of 2,800 throughout the United States.
