Cliff Lee: The Best Postseason Pitcher Ever

The title of this post pretty much says it all to me there is none better than Cliff Lee when it is October.  Now me being the age I am (24) I didn't have the privilege of watching guys like Bob Gibson and Sandy Koufax, only from highlight tapes.  So obviously my opinion might be a little skewed since Lee is the only one ive seen live.  However the numbers don't lie, 7-0 with a 1.26 ERA and 67 strikeouts.  Cliff Lee became the first pitcher ever to strikeout at least 10 hitters in 3 straight games in the same postseason.  Now until 1970 the only round in the postseason was the World Series, but you can't hold that against Cliff Lee.  Cliff shares the record with Orel Hershiser and Orlando Hernandez for most consecutive wins to start your postseason career.  I can go on and on and list numerous stats but if you doubt Lee just watch him pitch.  This years run for Cliff Lee might be more impressive than his 09 run.  The obvious reason is his numbers they are just better.  The other reason his 2010 postseason is more impressive is the competition.  In baseball the AL East is considered the best division in baseball, and to some it's not even close.  All 3 of Lee's games have been against AL East opponents, and on the road.  Another thing that makes me think Lee is the best is the pressure for him to perform.  When the Rangers traded for him at the deadline this is why to pitch big in big playoff games.  It says a lot about a player when everyone is hyping you and saying how great you are, and when you come out to pitch you still exceed the expectations.  With Cliff Lee there are still a couple of chapters to still be written, especially for this postseason.  In any sport its hard to judge different players from different eras however if Cliff Lee continues this hot streak it will be hard to debate his postseason greatness and where it ranks all time.
