Census: 6% Of Frederick County Houses Vacant

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Census figures show nearly 6 percent of the homes in Frederick County were vacant when the census was taken last April.

Of the more than 90,000 houses in Frederick County and its towns, more than 5,330 sat vacant on April 1, 2010, according to the recently released U.S. Census Bureau figures.

And of the county's 12 municipal areas, Frederick led with 2,207 vacancies, or 8.01 percent of its 27,559 total housing units vacant. Brunswick followed with a 7.51 percent vacancy rate, or 175 of its 2,330 units, the census figures show.
