Cat Rescued After Being Stuck In A Tree For Weeks

BALTIMORE (WJZ) – A cat was recently rescued from an 80-foot tree after being stranded for nearly four weeks.

Baltimore City resident Jewel Crum saw the cat and said that after attempting to climb the tree herself, she called the fire department, animal control and multiple tree cutting companies to rescue it.

No one would help.

Crum later contacted Animal Rescue, Inc. via their Facebook page, and a volunteer within the organization came down to the location.

"I felt sick to my stomach," said Ashley Carlson, Director of Animal Health and Welfare, "I knew we had to do something."

Christ Tattersall from Tree Health Care, LLP was also later sent to help rescue the cat.

At first the cat was on the lowest branch, but as soon as Tattersall started setting up his ropes, the cat ran to the top of the 80-foot tree.

After he reached the top and secured the cat, he yelled, "The cat is in the bag!"

The rescue team named the cat 'Branch' and they are keeping it until they can find its owner.
