Casey at the bat: First half awards

The All-Star break of the 2010 Orioles season was a nice time for me to reflect on what has been an amazing three and half months for me producing the games for the Orioles Radio Network and 105.7 The Fan.

It is, without a doubt, the best job I have ever had, as working with Joe Angel and Fred Manfra has been an absolute joy.

Usually the media gives out their first half awards, so I thought I would do the same:

Best City: San Diego ... there are a couple of close runners-up, but San Diego wins my first half award. San Francisco and New York also received consideration.

Best Ballpark: This is a close one, too, but I'll go with Fenway Park. It's just an amazing place with so much history there. You know you are somewhere special when you are there. Target Field in Minnesota, Comerica Park in Detroit, Safeco Field in Seattle and AT&T Park in San Francisco are also great places to see.

Favorite restaurant: Tilted Kilt in San Diego ... just Google it ... Loose Moose in Toronto is also really good.

Favorite Off-Day Activity: Several tied for first. Going to see Kelly Ripa in person, visiting the World Trade Center site in New York and a visit to the San Diego Zoo

Biggest "Wow" Moment: Getting to meet Nolan Ryan.

Most Weird Encounter: I was Walking in Times Square, and I turned around and saw the woman Jesse James cheated on Sandra Bullock with standing right behind me.

Least Favorite Ballpark: Oakland. That place is just not a great place to watch a baseball game.

I am looking forward to seeing some new cities in the second half of the season and bringing you the best of my travels in my blog. Stay tuned ...
