Brian Roberts update...
FROM 4/12 -- There's no new update on Roberts overall health but the second baseman did receive and epidural today in his lower back. According to Dave Trembley via Orioles' PR, Roberts will rest for 4-5 days and will be out for the full 15 day duration of the DL. A rehab assignment is not ruled out. The reason behind the DL ... Trembley figured it was early enough in the season where he could nip the injury now, especially with the long road trip ahead.
Trembley stated this DL stint for Roberts is a major loss given how valuable Roberts is, especially to the offense since he sets the tone. He also said second base is a pretty important position which is why he opted to bring up another second baseman instead of a reliever.
Justin Turner was present in the clubhouse pregame and as expected is excited to be with the club. He said he had just unpacked in Norfolk and literally had to pack up and head to Baltimore. He said he would be willing to do anything to help the club even if it was just pinch hitting.
Trembley also saying Julio Lugo is not officially the new second baseman... he said it depends on matchups and who the opponent is. Felix Pie and Lugo are the two leadoff candidates at this time.
