BALTIMORE (WJZ)--He's breaking his silence. Former governor Bob Ehrlich finally comments on the controversial robo-calls that angered thousands of Maryland voters on election night.
Vic Carter reports the former candidate for governor says he didn't know about the robo-calls.
Ehrlich told The Annapolis Capital the calls were done "outside of my purview." He didn't elaborate, but it's the most he's said to date about the controversy.
Political operative Julius Henson has admitted making the calls on behalf of the Ehrlich campaign.
More than 100,000 voters received a call before the polls closed on election night, informing them Governor Martin O'Malley had already won. Top Democrats say the calls were intended to keep minority Democrats away from the polls. But Henson claims he was trying to encourage people to vote.
The state's attorney general has filed a civil lawsuit, accusing Henson of voter intimidation.
