BLOG: What A Wet Weekend

What a wet, raw start to the weekend. Other than a very brief rain/freezing rain mix along the PA border overnight before changing to rain, this was just rain for most of the state - although it was a close call once again.

Temperatures were stuck between 33-35 degrees almost all day long as the rain, drizzle, clouds and fog hung over the state. Then this evening, the cold front finally swung through. Oddly enough, that front mixed up the atmosphere enough that temperatures rose to near 40 degrees behind it. That is, before they start falling again overnight. Although we will drop below freezing overnight, the gusty winds that kicked in will help to dry roads.

Tomorrow will be a much different story. Sunshine is going to return and help warm us up to the 40s tomorrow afternoon. Believe it or not, 43 degrees is actually our average high this time of year. We have just been so cold lately. Statistically, we have already bottomed out with our average for the season and they are on the way back up. But even though the averages are rising, a new round of Arctic air is on the way.

Two more storms are going to move our way this upcoming week. The first one Monday night into Tuesday could bring a mix of rain and snow showers before leaving. But it's this front that will bring back the cold air. Highs will be in the 40s Monday before dropping back to the mid and low 30s Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Then, the second storm will move into that cold air Thursday with the chance for a little snow. It's going to be a fast-moving storm and will be out to sea by Friday. Of course, we will watch the details of both these storms and keep you updated through the week.
