BLOG: Warmer Weather Ahead

After a brutal December temperaturewise, a warmup is on the way for 2011.

Although we made it up to the average of 43 degrees today, there have only been a few days this month where that actually happened.  In fact, we have only averaged 38.9 degrees for our high all month long.  And our high temperature averages for the month start at 51 degrees and drop to 42 degrees.  When you combine both high and low temperatures, we are running 5.2 degrees below average.  However, this very cold December is coming to an end both on the calendar and with a warmup.

High pressure will settle over the Mid-Atlantic tomorrow.  That will shut off the winds and provide a lot of sunshine.  Then, a warm front will swing by on Thursday.  There will be some clouds with it and highs in the 40s, before it ushers in some warmer air.  Highs will be close to 50 degrees on Friday and in the low 50s on Saturday.  We will still manage a high near 50 again on Sunday, even with a cold front coming through.

That next cold front will bring in clouds Saturday, then some rain later Saturday into the first half of Sunday.  We know that there is a home Ravens game on Sunday at 1, so we will watch this front's timing closely...because there is the chance that it could be gone by game time.  Behind the front, it will cool down again but not as harshly as it has been lately.
