BLOG: The Heat Is On
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Parts of the area have enjoyed a rain-free weekend, while others had thunderstorms roll through. But we're now looking ahead to a forecast we all will experience…and it includes HEAT!
With high pressure sitting over the Great Lakes and poised to move southeastward, we will see a uniform shift in the winds over the next 24 to 36 hours. The change will allow the flow around the high to tap into very warm temperatures across the South. Today, we can expect to see temps get just above the seasonal average of 80. By Tuesday and into mid-week, the heat index will soar as dewpoints rise along with temperatures.
A Tuesday high of 90, Wednesday high of 96 and a Thursday high of 97 are not out of the question. Keep in mind that dewpoints in the 60s will make for a sticky few days. We will get mild relief at night with overnight lows staying within the 60 to 70 degree range (which is still above the average 58). Our next real chance of significant rain comes on Thursday and Friday, by way of potential thunderstorms.
Stay cool and keep it tuned to WJZ and WJZ.COM for more information on the heat and useful tips on how to beat it.
