BLOG: Storm Wrapping Up

The storm that moved in yesterday is finally wrapping up and moving away. It has taken until late this afternoon/early this evening, but the rain and drizzle are ending and the clouds are even mixing with a little sunshine.

Temperaturewise, we really dropped yesterday and never really recovered today. Highs are only in the mid 50s which is way below the average of 64 degrees. Now that the storm is leaving, skies will continue to clear overnight. That will lead to sunshine tomorrow and a warmer afternoon. Highs tomorrow will get into the upper 60s/near 70. However, this warmup will not be long-lived. Another front will push down from the north on Friday. There's not much moisture to it, but it will bring more clouds and cool us down. Highs will drop back down to near 60.

A new storm, with a lot of moisture, will move our way Saturday. Expect rain and maybe some thunderstorms as it moves through. It will keep temperatures near 60 on Saturday and make for a soggy start to the weekend. That storm will move away Sunday morning, allowing sunshine to return for the rest of Sunday. The swings of spring will continue as this kicks in another warmup Sunday into Monday.

ATTENTION TEACHERS AND STUDENTS: Our 4th annual Weather Field Trip Day at Camden Yards is right around the corner. This year, it will be Thursday, May 26. If you are unfamiliar with the program, it's a day full of fun. We start out with an action, graphics-filled weather program on the field that features helpers like Nicole Sherry (head groundskeeper), Chris Strong from the National Weather Service and, of course, the Bird. Then, everyone takes a lunch break before enjoying an afternoon Orioles game.

To sign up or get more information on this day, contact the Orioles at Camden Yards.
