BLOG: Snow Falling In Parts Of Md.

Winter Storm warnings and Winter weather advisories are in effect thru Tuesday morning for almost all of  Maryland except the lower Eastern Shore and extreme southern Maryland.

We expect snow to get heavy at times overnight and probably accumulate as much as 4 to maybe 8 inches across northern sections with lower amounts south of the Washington to Annapolis areas.

Just think last Friday we almost broke a record high temperature in the mid 70s!

The jet stream has come south out of eastern Canada and a low pressure system is now moving across Kentucky to the Norfolk Virginia area by tomorrow morning. This track puts most of the state in a perfect zone for snow, as colder air continues to flow into the region from the north. The storm is moving rather quickly so we do expect all snow to end shortly after sunrise with the sun returning by afternoon.

It will remain cold on Tuesday with the nighttime readings back in the low to mid teens again. More sunshine and a gradual warm-up is expected for Wednesday and Thursday so things will gradually improve weather-wise for the rest of the week. If you must drive overnight or in the early morning be prepared for delays and slippery conditions in many areas.
