BLOG: Red Flag Warning In Effect

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for most of the state through 8 p.m. Monday, then will go back into effect from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. again Tuesday.

We have benefitted from some gorgeous weather lately, but the rainfall deficit has been growing considerably during this time. We are already down .98" only about 1 week into the month and 4.11" for the year. A new front is approaching the state, but it's bringing some good and bad news for the fire danger threat. The bad news, the front is kicking up the winds even more - only increasing the risk of spreading fires. The good news, this front will bring some showers with it - however, only scattered showers and not a good soaking rain like we need.

The scattered showers will continue Monday night into Tuesday with this front coming through. Then, a second front will follow Wednesday with another round of scattered showers. While these fronts are moving through, they will knock our temperatures down. The average is now 62 degrees. We will spend the next three days below that average.

It looks like warmer air will move our way heading into next weekend, but another front could also bring the chance for some very needed showers.
