BLOG: Rainy Day
Rounds of heavy rain and even a couple of thunderstorms are moving through Maryland. Most places have received a quick .5-1" rainfall in addition to lighter rain and drizzle earlier Tuesday. The worst of the storm will move away Tuesday evening, with the rest of the rain ending overnight.
During that time, the gusty southerly winds will turn around to the northwest and step up another notch. Those northwestly winds will gust up to 40 mph, bringing in drier and cooler air. But even though it will be cooler, temperatures will be back down to average for this time of year. After topping out in the mid 50s Tuesday, we will only be in the low 40s Wednesday. The winds will back off Thursday with temperatures remaining in the low 40s.
Then, a new, much weaker storm will approach. This time it will swing out of the Midwest through the Northeast, clipping us along the way. Expect more clouds Friday and Saturday with it, and maybe even some showers. Temperatures will jump back into the 50s, though. After that storm leaves, there are signs that much colder air is coming our way for the beginning of 2012. Doesn't that sound crazy...2012?!
Happy New Year!
