BLOG: Nice, Easy And Breezy
This weekend will not be nearly as bad as some others -- but it will be windy and it's not out of the question for a stray sprinkle to make it into the city as well, but with a strong westerly flow the low levels of the atmosphere should dry out appreciably. As such, chances of rain are no better than 10 percent today and are even less than that for Sunday. In any event sunshine will be in relative abundance, though a few clouds will be around this afternoon... so with temperatures near average for this time of year (around 70) it's not too bad when not factoring in the winds.
Better rain chances exist Sunday night as a weak warm front moves in early with a cool front slipping southward and stalling out nearby by sunrise Monday. A dry mid-level flow will persist, so not much in the way of rainfall expected, though a stray shower cannot be ruled out. Monday night into Tuesday will feature more clouds as the front lifts back northward with a shower most likely then.
As the warm front moves through northward early Tuesday we should break into the warm sector, so not many changes needed at this time. Some model guidance is considerably cooler, however (GFS has a high of 62 at BWI!). On Wednesday a deep trough moves eastward and a storm system begins to take shape somewhere along or inland from the Mid-Atlantic coast. The frontal boundary should be to our north/west, so until the flow becomes easterly we should remain relatively warm and humid. Some clearing for Thursday, but we may have to adjust this forecast in the coming days if things slow down a bit more.
