BLOG: Mother's Day Forecast
Probably dry today, though a weak short-wave trough will be moving eastward and could bring about a shower late today, though we'll call today a dry day. Tonight and tomorrow we'll have a better opportunity for some shower activity, but here too there will be plenty of times when it be dry. After this point we'll have dry weather through the middle of the week. A ridge is building into the Great Lakes and an upper low will hold just off shore in the Northeast. This latter feature could back in some instability clouds, but there will probably more sunshine than clouds overall. Most places from southeast New York into Virginia will have dry northwesterly flow. The better chance for clouds will be in New England where also some showers are possible. We'll continue to keep the dry and pleasant conditions
through Thursday, though the pattern is definitely breaking down with the offshore storm moving farther offshore and the ridge in the Great Lakes pushing to the East Coast as the next storm and associated cold front move into the area.
It's after this point we may have several days of unsettled weather with more clouds, cooler afternoons and the opportunity for showers. That's still over a week away, so I wouldn't bank on it, but there is some consistency in the long range models on the matter.
