BLOG: More Sunshine...For Now
The beautiful weather continues! At least for now.
We are still wedged into a mild, dry slot of air that falls between a growing storm over the middle of the country and a coastal storm. There are more clouds and spotty showers in western Maryland, but sunshine the farther east you go. We are going to hang onto this weather pattern for another day or so before changes kick in.
The storm over the middle of the country will break loose and slowly start moving east. There is the chance for a shower or thunderstorm late Friday with more clouds around, but those chances increase even more Saturday and even more on Sunday. Since this is such a slow moving system, it will hang over the Mid-Atlantic for a few days. During this time, there will be more clouds with rounds of scattered showers and thunderstorms each and every day.
The National Weather Service continues to update and refine their tornado assessment from the outbreak we had at the end of April. They have just confirmed that an EF-0 touched down in Hereford, Baltimore County during that time. Click here for a link to the total list of tornadoes they have assessed.
ATTENTION TEACHERS AND STUDENTS:
There is still time! Our fourth annual Weather Field Trip Day at Camden Yards is right around the corner. This year, it will be Thursday, May 26. If you are unfamiliar with the program, it's a day full of fun. We start out with an action, graphics-filled weather program on the field that features helpers like Nicole Sherry (head groundskeeper), Chris Strong from the National Weather Service and, of course, the Bird. Then, everyone takes a lunch break before enjoying an afternoon Orioles game.
