BLOG: Improvement

The big story today will be a cold front producing showers and thunderstorms along the East Coast. Locally, a few showers are moving off the east, while the west remains largely dry. The cold front remains well to the west near the Ohio and West Virginia border. Because of that, shower and thunderstorm activity will be more likely in the afternoon, when the cold front finally makes it to the city. Other than a few very isolated storms, we could be dry for much of the morning and early afternoon. Personally, I like the NAM solution for today which keeps the early part of the drier than any other model, based off of how well both models are doing currently. As for temperatures, both the NAM and GFS have come into some agreement after being far apart earlier. With a lot of people from the viewing area going to the race at Pocono, I think we could see some showers and thunderstorms around to delay it, although I don't think we'll see a washout.

Tonight, showers and thunderstorms will continue into the evening, but we will get some drying late as the front heads offshore. Monday looks like a much better day with sunshine and some clouds. An upper level feature will create some showers across New England and perhaps as far south as the Poconos, although the viewing area will be spared.

On Tuesday, the upper level feature will shift southeastward into southern New England. Models are hinting at some light precip across much of the Northeast. I think we'll see a few more clouds, especially in the afternoon and I've added a mention for a shower in, although I would expect much, if not all, of the day to be dry.

Have a great day!!!!
