BLOG: Hot Days Ahead

Sunday will likely see temperatures several degrees warmer as the front passes by with showers and a stray thunderstorm or two making their way across the viewing area.

Monday will be much like Sunday with the front nearby, but it will likely be dry with focus for precipitation well to the north and east. The rest of next week looks to see temperatures come up considerably as the warm front pushes off to the east and a mid-level westerly flow brings about a much warmer air mass. The proverbial fly in the ointment will reside with the fact that the upper-level flow should be northwesterly with the ridge axis across the Ohio Valley Tuesday into Wednesday... and this could potentially lead to a series of weak disturbances pushing across the area as they round the top of the ridge. It's virtually impossible to pick out any of these disturbances with any certainty this far out, but the pattern may support one or more of these features.

Right now we'll keep the forecast dry as the it's uncertain how close we'll be to the ridge axis and whether or not any upper-level feature will develop. In any case, temperatures well above normal and slowly rising humidity seem like a safe bet.
