BLOG: Happy May Day

High pressure across the Northeast will make for one more beautiful day across the area with a wealth of sunshine and near average temperatures. Clouds will increase late in the day and through the evening with rain likely holding off until tomorrow afternoon for most -- that said a few stray shower cannot be ruled out to the north and west of town, mainly this afternoon, but chances are on the order of 20% or so... In any event it will be mainly cloudy.

A cold front will move into the region Monday night and will stall out somewhere nearby, and this will keep Tuesday mainly cloudy with a few showers and/or thunderstorms to be around by the afternoon. We've elected to bring temperatures up several degrees, but this will be dependent on the frontal position and we may still be underdone -- right now we're going with the idea that the front is closer to New York if not right over the city, so this would clearly place us in Baltimore squarely within the warm sector. This can easily change and the forecast is made with relatively low confidence.

Rain chances continue on Wednesday (and perhaps even into Thursday) as the upper-level trough bringing up the wet weather on Tuesday closes off and the upper-level low then drifts northeastward... and with a blocking high developing near Newfoundland we may have to slow things down even further... stay tuned and have a great day!
