BLOG: April Fool's Forecast

Well, this rain event once again was an "under-achiever," but the precipitation in York did make a change over to snow shortly after 3 a.m.

Odds do seem to favor that any wet snow will be confined to areas well to the north and west of Baltimore, and it will bring little or no accumulation, anyhow. Morning rain showers ended around 10 or 11 a.m. and the sun is out for a couple of hours this afternoon.

Tonight and tomorrow, a fairly potent upper-level disturbance will be diving out of the northwest and through the base of a trough located in the Eastern region. Therefore, a couple of showers cannot be ruled out very late tonight and especially during the day tomorrow. It should be milder on Sunday with sunshine returning and much WARMER on Monday for the Orioles' home opener. The one thing that does concern us is that there is going to be an area of rain associated with a warm front that will be pressing to the north and east. Monday may actually be a "morning rain tapering to a couple of showers before ending in the afternoon" kind of day. Since the baseball game starts at 3:05 p.m. that would be favorable, and temperatures could actually reach the lower or middle-70s in a best-case scenario. Look for some rain and perhaps a thunderstorm associated with a cold front on Tuesday.
