BLOG: Another Great Weekend

On the weather map Saturday morning we have high pressure stretching from eastern Canada southward through New England and down through the southern Appalachians. Elsewhere, we have the low pressure area developing out in the Texas Panhandle and another area of low pressure across Hudson Bay. A low is also developing in northern Alberta and high pressure is centered over Idaho with another high centered in the Pacific Ocean several hundred miles to the west of Washington.

The flow around the high pressure centered to the north controlling our weather Saturday will cut several degrees off of Friday's high temperatures, but all in all a nice day setting up for our area with seasonably cool temperatures. There are some patchy mid and high level clouds that will work across the region embedded in the southwesterly flow aloft Saturday afternoon and night, but not too much of a concern as there will still be plenty of sunshine.

As the high slides to the east Sunday and Monday, temperatures will be rebounding back above average, and it will remain dry. Again, Sunday there can be some mid and high level clouds at times, but probably not too noticeable and still a bright day with more sunshine than clouds. There will probably be more in the way of high and mid level clouds Monday resulting in more clouds than sunshine. Meanwhile, the low pressure area out in the Texas Panhandle Saturday morning will track to western Quebec by Sunday evening and will have a cold front stretching southwestward through the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley into southeast Texas. As more upper-level energy feeds into the southern part of this front in southeast Texas, another low pressure wave will form along the southern end of the front, which will help slow the eastern advance of the front. As this wave of low pressure tracks northward into western Pennsylvania Tuesday morning, it will draw even milder air into our area. However, this will be a moistening flow as well and the cold front advancing slowly eastward to the south and southeast of the low will probably help provide enough lift to breaks out some "blotchy" rain areas for us. Not a soaker, but probably wet weather at times for us Tuesday. The front dangling from this low tracking to our northwest will probably cross our area later Tuesday night or early Wednesday and another low pressure wave will develop along the southern end of the front to bring us wet and cooler weather Wednesday and perhaps into Wednesday night.
