BIG BUCKS TO MERE BABES
I'm sure by now , all of you know the Orioles signed their number one draft pick, shortstop Manny Machado. As the third overall pick in the draft, he was sure to get a a financial windfall the likes of which people like you and me can only imagine. His signing bonus was reported at 5.25 million. As Cecil Fielder once said, "that's a lot of iron."
Good for him. I believe players should make whatever the market will bear. But, the kid just turned 18. Imagine back to when you were 18, can you imagine what you would have done with 5.25 mil?
Having raised two kids myself, I can tell you that handing an 18 year old that kind of money is just begging for trouble. You might as well hand him a stick of dynamite and a match.
