What is yoga? Yoga is an Indian discipline that focuses on physical, mental, and spiritual practices. Though yoga dates back to the 5th and 6th centuries, modern day yoga was first introduced in the mid-19th century. Many health clubs and community centers offer yoga classes for relaxation and meditation. Bikram Yoga Baltimore has two locations: Locust Point and Cockeysville. Bikram Yoga, the original hot yoga, is a "very specific 90-minute series of 26 yoga postures (asanas) and breathing exercises." The Bikram Yoga Baltimore classes are conducted in a heated room, which allows you to warm up your whole body and work muscles, tendons, and ligaments deeply. Participants should bring a yoga mat, a large towel to place over the mat, and water to drink.
