The Best of Luck, named after proprietor Lucky Thompson, recently relocated from Baltimore's Harbor East neighborhood into the heart of the tourist district, the Inner Harbor. Jars are filled to the brim with candy ($9.99 per pound), and the Maryland Bucket ($50) features state favorites, including Maryland Jeppi mix, salt-water taffy, and a crab-shaped cookie cutter. Crab cakes are the quintessential Baltimore gift, and Faidley is the place to buy them. Tucked away in the city's famed Lexington Market, owners Bill and Nancy Devine continue the family tradition founded by John Faidley in 1886. Faidley's award-winning lump crab cakes ($12.95 per 6.5-ounce crab cake) are made to order with meat previously inspected by the Devines. Faidley's crab cakes are boxed to go, or you may ship them. Only order the crab cakes when you know that they'll be eaten quickly; Faidley's does not ship frozen cakes. Shipping is UPS Next Day Air, so shipping costs vary.

While a shoe store isn't a likely place to buy edible gifts, don't miss the treats at Ma Petite Shoe. Blogger Amy Langrehr boxed up her fudgey salted caramel brownies to sell at Ma Petite Shoe for the 2012 holiday season. Langrehr promises each brownie ($5.99) is so rich that it could easily be divided into fourths. If the brownies don't offer enough caramel, Ma Petite Shoe also carries local favorite Mouth Party Caramels. If you need wine, spirits, beer and mixers, The Wine Source in Hampden is an excellent stop, but the store also boasts a variety of specialty goods that make perfect edible gifts. From boxes of Maryland's own Kirchmayr chocolates ($19 for half of a pound) to bags of Baltimore's favorite, Zeke's Coffee ($11.99), there are plenty of non-alcoholic options. For the serious foodie, The Wine Source keeps a stock of specialty olive oils and small-batch vinegars. The Wine Source also offers a rectangular cheese plate ($14) and will recommend a variety of cheeses to accompany the perfect host or hostess gift.

If your gift recipient has an insatiable sweet tooth, Glarus Chocolatier is the place to satisfy it. Named after co-owner Ben Hauser's father's Switzerland hometown, Hauser and his wife, Jennifer Hauser, opened Glarus in 2004. The duo create a variety of truffles and other sweet treats based off of family recipes. A 12-piece box of assorted truffles ($19.50) makes a delicious gift and may be ordered online. Other specialties include chocolate-covered espresso beans ($9.50 for six ounces), dark chocolate-dipped orange slices ($10.75), and sobe dunkle, jars of Swiss dark chocolate sauce ($11.50 for nine ounces).
