Bell recalled, Scott to DL, Pie close
The 23-year old Josh Bell made his Major League debut Thursday night against the A's, getting his long-awaited call-up after Luke Scott went on the DL with a left hamstring strain. Bell said he was ready to go, not nervous and very excited to play ... but according to Juan Samuel, Bell knows his stint in the Majors this time around will be a short one.
Bell got the start at third base batting seventh vs. the A's Trevor Cahill. Samuel said he wanted to get Miguel Tejada "off his feet" for a night... With that, Tejada will get half a night off and DH in the two hole.
Luke Scott will head to Sarasota to start his rehab program while Felix Pie will head back down to Bowie for the weekend to get more work in before possibly meeting the team in Detroit on Monday. Pie was in the clubhouse before Thursday's game and said he feel well enough to play the outfield but needs more at-bats to get his timing right. Samuel, however, said he'd like Pie to throw more in the outfield... Regardless, Pie isn't quite ready to return to the club but we could see him in the lineup as early as Monday.
