Baltimore Woman Fatally Struck On Route 175 In Jessup

JESSUP, Md. (WJZ) -- A 27-year-old Baltimore woman who was hit by a pickup truck while crossing the highway in Jessup early Tuesday morning has died, according to Howard County police.

A Dodge Ram driven by 61-year-old Raymond Slater of Glen Burnie was heading west on Route 175 near Route 1 at about 4:45 a.m. when it struck the woman, according to police.

First responders rushed 27-year-old Janay Dominique Carter to Howard County General Hospital, but she did not survive.

Slater was not hurt.

Investigators suspect Carter might be to blame for the collision. No charges have been filed.

All of the surrounding lanes have since reopened.
