Shooting at Leon Day Park in West Baltimore kills 12-year-old girl, injures 3 others
A shooting on Saturday evening at Leon Day Park in West Baltimore killed a 12-year-old girl and injured three others, the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) said.
Officers responded to the park around 6:15 p.m. and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds, an adult woman and a 12-year-old girl, BPD Commissioner Richard Worley told reporters during a news briefing.
Officers rendered aid at the scene to the injured individuals, who were then transported to the hospital. The 12-year-old girl died at the hospital. The adult woman's injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening and she was listed in stable condition, police officials said.
While officers were at the scene, two adult men who were also injured in the incident walked into area hospitals seeking treatment, Worley said. Their injuries were also not considered life-threatening and they were listed in stable condition.
The incident happened just before 7 p.m. and involved two adults that got into an argument, Worley said. Witnesses told CBS News Baltimore the shooting occurred at the site of a youth football game.
North Franklintown Road at North Ellamont Street was closed while police investigated the shooting.
