Baltimore Braces For Freezing Temps, Declares 'Code Blue'
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore health officials are warning residents of below freezing temperatures and sub-zero wind chills, and are activating a Severe Code Blue emergency warning for the city through Saturday.
During Code Blue emergencies, Baltimore operates a 24-hour housing and resource center that provides food and shelter to the homeless.
Officials say the Code Blue warning goes into effect at 6 p.m. and will last through Saturday at noon.
Officials say they will open an additional homeless shelter at the War Memorial Building that will operate overnight between 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
