Baltimore Board Approves $99K For Grand Prix Work
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore's spending board has voted to allocate nearly $99,000 for infrastructure improvements related to the Grand Prix race.
A transportation department spokeswoman says the money, which was primarily drawn from federal funds, will be used for construction management and inspections. The Board of Estimates approved the $98,800 on Wednesday.
The city had allocated $7.75 million for road construction to transform two miles of streets around the Inner Harbor into a race course.
The three-day racing festival is scheduled for Labor Day weekend.
